What is a DOI and how do I find it?

Answer

DOI, digital object identifier, is a unique set of numbers and symbols. Here is an example: 10.3138/jsp-2017-0017. Anyone can enter this DOI into a search engine and find this article.

When trying to find the DOI, it will be listed on the detailed record page or on the main page of the article. If you are looking at the article PDF, look for it with the author information and/or the footnotes.

Note: Articles generally have a DOI, but not all. Books, newspapers, and magazines generally do not have a DOI.
